Description
With a long approach and poor rock quality, this tower may have only seen one ascent. No anchor on top, simul rap required. Tower is named for one of Eric Bjornstad's dogs.
Getting There
From Hanksville, travel North on hwy 24 for 6.5 miles. Turn left (West) onto a dirt road located just North of the viewfinder pullout. Follow this road for 1.1 miles. Take a right (North) before the road jogs left towards the parking for Meat Log, etc. We began riding bicycles from here, but a 4x4 rig could continue. Head North for 0.6 miles crossing a dry wash right away. Turn left (West) and climb steep terrain going up and over the ridge. Caltopo shows this road terminating after 2.7 miles from this left hand turn, but it is unlikely that you will be able to drive that far. From the road's end (caltopo), follow the meandering wash downstream for approximately 2.5 miles (1.25 as the crow flies). Tower will become visible on your right (West). Many other towers in the area, but this is the only one with a massive arch splitting it.
Alternatively, one could approach from Meat Log as for the other towers in this area, but I have not done this.
