Description
Shorter than its upriver neighbors but no less fun, just different. Climb its many slab faces, corners, and cracks. Lots of vegetation at the moment.
UG = Upper Gully
MG = Mid Gully
LG = Lower Gully
Getting There
Upper Parking: Follow the overlook trail to the main overlook (Yellow Blazed Trail). Walk left at the sign and head towards the switchback trail between (but closer to Doldrums) Doldrums and Gibraltar. Climbers' trail breaks off the switchback about halfway. Take the right (downriver) trail. Continue along the trail till you get to the Gibraltar junction (Sentinel, Hanging Gardens, and Pixel) continue down and over some talus to corners wall. Walk over another section of talus. From here you can descend down to Castellan main wall or move slightly into the gully for climbs like cave dweller.
Mid gully and upper gully climbs are best accessed by rappelling from the top. Do not climb up the gully as this is very erodible soil and typically is overgrown with poison ivy.
