Description Suggest change

This area is located just north of Reykjavik and a bit south of the Valshamar climbing area. The cliffs generally face south and are visible from Highway 1, about 5km southeast of Grundarhverfi. The area has both rock and ice climbing. There are about 40 rock climbs from 5.4 to 5.13, including multi-pitch, sport and trad. There are 35 or more ice and mixed routes.

This area is located just north of Reykjavik and a bit south of the Valshamar climbing area. The cliffs generally face south and are visible from Highway 1 about 5km southeast of Grundarhverfi. The coordinates for the area are roughly 64.214294, -21.745414.

The parking area for the westernmost rock climbs is just north of Highway 1. You turn off Highway 1 at approximately 64.207981, -21.761198 (about 5km southeast of Grundarhverfi) and drive north to a parking lot for a popular hiking trail up a nearby peak.
