Getting There
~6 miles from Hwy. 20 on the Bowman Lake road is a dirt road turn off leading to Grouse Ridge campground and trail head. Currently high clearance or 4wd is not required but careful driving and good tires are a plus for the 6 miles of rocky dirt road from the pavement. The road crests at about 7200' (best parking) and may have snow in mid June near the top. Alternate parking can be found nearby and lower down in sunnier spots a 1/4 mile from the start of the trail to the summit/approach to the base.
Description
"Grouse Tor" is the rounded summit found to the East of the Grouse Ridge lookout. It features an easy walk to the top (spectacular view) from a parking area before the campground and a North facing wall above Sanford Lake with remarkably good stone. Many potential lines remain to be climbed from easy or hard trad or sport climbing development on the Tor itself or nearby crags.
