Description
A huge and historic sector, with oldest routes put up in late 1970s, and 1980s. 1-3 pitch routes, some starting from the upper level (access by via ferrata)
Getting There
From the parking spot for Rocca di petri, hike up and left for about 400m, and then up and right about 500m on the dirt access road. After passing the Parete delle gemme sector (slab wall close to the access road on the left) the road will make a sharp switchback to the left, and 50-60m later will switch back right. Look for the obvious uphill train at this switchback that will take you to the left side of the sector, after about 5 minutes of the uphill hike, trending left. GPS coordinates for the left side of Ombre-blu are N 44 11.524 E 8 18.727.
To get to the upper sector, from the left side of the lower sector (route la Flaca) climb a via ferrata and fixed ropes diagonally to the upper sector.
To get to the right side of Ombre-blu, do NOT take the first uphill trail at the road turn. Instead, continue up the switchback of the access road a short distance to some pullout parking spots, and look for a trail on the left side that will get you to the rock in only couple hundred feet. It is possible to access the right side of Ombre-Blu by walking right from the left sector along the rock face, But taking the alternative approach would save you 15 minutes.
