Description Suggest change

The west side of Mount Washington isn't nearly as popular as the east side, but there's plenty of interesting ways up the mountain worth checking out. From the open bowls of Ammonoosuc Ravine, to ski opportunities in Monroe Brook and Burt Ravine, anyone will find something to enjoy on the west side. The consistent northwest winds the load the east side often scour the west side. This means these routes take a lot longer to form, but they offer perfect, firm mountaineering conditions when they’re in.

Getting There Suggest change

Depending on where you’re off to, it's best to park at the Cog Railway. If you wish to park right by the tracks, you will need to pay for a land use permit. Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail offers a quick and easy approach to much of the terrain on this side of the mountain.
