Description
Vertical to slightly overhung face climbing. Basic Kunming stuff.
BE AWARE: late spring (maybe April, but definitely May and June before the rains start) is wild fire season in Yunnan and the Western Hills park authorities take it very seriously. There may be closures during high fire hazard periods and the area will be patrolled regularly.

Getting There
First getting to the trailhead, which is at the bus stop beneath the elevated expressway underpass at intersection with Hubin Road: Option 1 - take taxi. Option 2 - take subway #3 line to end at Western Hills Station. Then walk down to road below (short distance) to stop for #6 or #94 bus. Take to bus stop in underpass where trail starts.
It's a short 10-15 minute hike to the crags. From the bus stop pullout beneath the elevated expressway, head N a few steps across the pavement (back toward Kunming) and climb up the short retaining wall at the expressway pillar. The trail starts on top of the wall and heads N some more up slope and out from beneath overpass. From top of first climb on the trail above the road, bear right on good trail that traverses (flat) north. Then left after a bit follow good trail up through forest and bamboo to lower Owl Rock. Upper Owl access trail diverges to left (near N end of lower Owl Rock) and wanders for a while up steeply through graves, eventually to the crag. No good way to describe the path to upper crag except that you are mostly under or just to the right of the cable car path. Eventually cross under to the climbs when you get higher up. There are numerous small trails to confuse you so expect some trial and error until you learn the to most direct sequence.
