Description
Great climbing of all kinds in this region of NorthWest Italy (or close by) -- Valle dell'Orco for big wall granite, Andonno for difficult Sport, Rocca Sburua, Gran Paradiso and Monte Viso for alpine, plus innumerable sport crags of many rock types in many directions from the main city of Torino / Turin. Also some Via Ferrata routes which would be top-ranked if they were moved to the Dolomites.
Plus quick driving to Mont Blanc (its wilder side), Chamonix, Ceuse, Presles, Ecrins in France, and of course Finale Ligure in Italy.
English-speakers often call this region Piedmont. It includes most of the northwest "lobe" of Italy except for the coast (which is Liguria region) and the northwest corner around Monte Bianco / Mont Blanc (which is the autonomous region of Valle d'Aosta).
It contains the provinces of Cuneo, Biella, Vercelli, Novara, Verbania, Alessandria, Asti, and Torino.

Getting There
The main city of Torino / Turin has a significant international airport (TRN) and frequent train service to European cities, including Milano / Milan and Lyon France and other major cities in Italy. High-speed modern interstates / motorways / "autostrada" connect Torino and parts of the Piemonte region to Lyon + Chamonix France, Geneva + Lausanne + Rhone valley of Switzerland, and of course all major cities in Italy -- and quickly to famous climbing at Finale Ligure -- and to overnight car-carrying ferries to great climbing on the islands of Corsica and Sardegna / Sardinia (from the coast cities of Genova / Genoa, and more from Livorno).
