Description

After months of effort, The Expansion Pack is officially open! This newly developed fin located up and left of The Draw Pile hosts six (surprisingly good) routes in the 5.10 to 5.12 range. The routes here are characterized by gentle overhangs with jugs that lead to technical sequences when the angle breaks above. While several of the lines have distinct cruxes, its the angle of the wall, and the ensuing pump that will catch you by surprise. With the addition of these lines, "Crags" is officially a destination with something for everyone.

Getting There

The Expansion pack is the obvious fin up and left of the draw pile, as vizible from the road.
The approach heads up a small section of slab, then up hill before contorting across the slope to the main gully. I'm not kidding when I say the approach is a minute or less.

Just a word to the wise, some of the belay stances here are a bit rough -- a fall before making the first clip could be bad news as the climber would go tumbling down the hillside dragging the belayer along with them. Consider bringing a stick clip, if you're into that kind of thing. Not a great place to bring dogs or kids. Dec 26, 2017

Hey Take,
You're definitely right about this gully being significantly less comfortable than the belays at the other parts of this crag. Out of curiosity, did you find a stick clip when you were there? There is (or was) a heavy steel stick clip stashed at the cliff with "Property of Crags Against Humanity " for this exact reason. Dec 26, 2017

Was out here a week ago and it looks like the clip part of the stick clip is missing.. I'll try and put a new one on next time I'm out there. Until then, be bold, be brave. Jan 27, 2018

Kemper... it's not really necessary. And certainly not your responsibility to provide ! Jan 27, 2018
Well I was pleasantly surprised at how good the two sport elevens are. Jim Scott and I passed on this and the main wall because we were not willing to work that hard to clean it up. I take my hat off to you Kemper and Luke for the amazing amount of effort it must have taken. The two elevens were worth the effort and word is the 12 is good also. Mar 18, 2018
