Description
A recently discovered crag that is in the process of being developed (as at 2018). Has the potential to be one of the best (if not the best) crag in the North Island. Currently the longest route is 5 pitches, with the potential for many more 4-6+ pitch lines on several different buttresses. Both sport and trad on sound rock (rhyolite). Beautiful, remote location provides great ambiance while on the climbs, the downside of this is the 2+ hour walk in.
Getting There
Located in the Second Branch valley of the Tairua river. Accessed from Puketui Valley road. See climbnz.org.nz/nz/ni/waikat… for latest access information (access info may change as the crag is established further). Make sure you get permission before crossing any private land.
