Description
Mother Wall is a south facing area with over a half dozen 2-pitch climbs, with interesting variation in character arising from cracks and gullies in the wall. Best time to climb is early morning, before the sun gets oppressive, and for a full day of climbing, the months of Dec - Feb are best. Routes include a 5.7 that goes on hand to fist sized cams and long runouts, and a number of bolted lines from 5.9 to 5.11 in difficulty. All descents are rappels - 70 m rope is ideal, but a 60 will get you down many of the lines.
Getting There
See map for location. From Bangalore, take the Mysore highway past Bidadi, and turn right at the break in the median after you pass Rasta Cafe on the right. Follow this road through a village and over a bridge across the Akravathi River. Turn left after the bridge and look for the slabby hill just right of the road. Park on a dirt path directly across from the south end of the hill, cross the road and take a path through the fields that brings you to the south face.
