Rock Garden is the name of the restaurant in the area. There are plenty of boulders in this area, both in the restaurant area, and across the road as you follow the river. Much of this area is still unexplored, and there are many problems to be established.

To boulder here, you will have to pay to get into the restaurant area and ask permission to climb in the pit area. Many of the routes may not be possible when the water rises in the rainy season. Bring a machete to clear away vines, and it would be advised to buy a broom in town to clean off the rocks.

This area is a local swimming hole, so if there is still water you may have an audience of Tanzanian children watching you climb.

Getting There Suggest change

If you stay at the nearby Peace Lodge (approximate coordinates of -6.847046, 37.674633), you can just walk to the boulders. From any other place in the city, you can take a taxi, or boda boda (motorcycle taxi) and tell them to take you to Rock Garden bar and grill. They will drop you off at the restaurant, and you can walk from there.
