Description
Peak directly north of Kearsarge Pass, while not particularly inspiring, it has an all encompassing view of the peaks in this area.
The summit is a 15 foot Class 3 scramble up a pinnacle standing on essentially Class 2 terrain. The peak has a large high plateau on its northern side.

Getting There
From the Onion Valley Parking Loop there's a trail which runs north, up into the Golden Trout Lakes basin (eastern bowl of the peak). From the parking loop there's a big waterfall, the trail heads up old scree and passes this on the right, then crosses it's top and follows a depression until a meadow is reached, Golden Trout Lakes is to the left and Dragon Pass is to the right. The left branch leads at first through trees (lovely campsite hereabouts) then follow the creek more or less to a large barren and shadeless lake at about 11,400 ft. This will give you access to the snow routes out of the eastern bowl.
You can also hike up to Kearsarge Pass for access to the peak's south ridge, a great off-the-beaten-track camp site is Matlock Lake - very scenic with lot's of spaces available.
