Description
The Torre di Valgrande is the central and by far most imposing peak in the North Chain of Civetta rock towers; to quote Walter Pause:
"The Torre di Valgrande, that splendid rotund lump, belongs naturally to the majestic screen of the Civetta Wall. It is the third but last courtier in the North Ridge of the monarch that towers 500 meters above it..."
Ref: Walter Pause & Juergen Winkler; Extreme Alpine Rock; Granada Publishing (1979).
The above reference lists one of the all-time Dolomite "Extremes" Classics: NW Face (Carlesso-Menti Route) as Route Number 77.
