Description
Includes both US and British Virgin Islands. Aside from the stellar granite boulders of the Baths, little exploration has been done involving the vast deepwater soloing and trad-climbing options around the islands. Almost all areas are accessed via boat, with only a few exceptions. Rock type (in my very uneducated opinion) varies from dark volcanic tuff to quartzite. Quality varies widely from place to place, with stellar rock on tap in countless locations.
While the Baths of Virgin Gorda are becoming increasingly popular as a world-class bouldering destination, deepwater soloing and bouldering exists in substantial (if scattered) quantities and the potential for 1-2 pitch roped climbing is endless. A couple of friends and I are the only climbers I know exploring the areas outside of the Baths. I have never established routes before so please give any input you have. Also, if you ever get on any of our climbs please feel free to comment on the ratings and help to get these routes established.
