Description

A crag in the middle of the city. Not worth going to if you are a visitor to this country, but great to have 5 minutes down the road from your house! Most routes are trad/top rope, but a few of the harder routes are bolted. The columnar basalt provides for quite a different climbing experience from anything in this part of the country. Very sequency, very balancey and very technical. Located on the grounds of Auckland Grammar School, although the crag is administered by the NZAC. Climbers must register with the NZAC for a quarry climbing tag, which costs $10

Getting There

Central Auckland, located on the grounds of Auckland Grammar School. The Long Side is best accessed from Mountain road, and the Short Side from Normanby road.
