Description

The Iceberg is basically a huge block that is detached from the main wall. There are several routes in the cool/shady corridor behind it, as well as several routes on the front of the Berg. The rock quality is excellent. The bolting on some of the 'sport' routes seems pretty sparse.

Most all routes have bolted anchors, but be sure to inspect them and in some cases (chucks route) think about backing them up if top-roping.

Getting There

Follow the right branch of the trail out of the far right corner of the parking field. This should be the first cliff you get to on that trail. You should see the giant 'Pocket Boulder' on the right about 100 feet before you hit the cliff. Approach time is about 5 min.

I have replaced the anchors on Chucks Route and Tip of the Iceberg. There are also shared anchors up for Icecapades and KP Crack. These are glue in stainless steel wave bolts with rap rings. Tip of the Berg has chains as well. Mar 21, 2017

There is an established line in that general location called "The Dish" but I believe that may not be what you are referring to. I am not 100% but this may be a top rope that one of the guiding groups from Blacksburg or Radford use. If I recall its a pretty dirty gully like feature. Maybe 5.5 or less. Jul 25, 2016

It's behind the "Iceberg" and roughly two routes to the right of barking spiders. It has shiny anchors near the top, about two feet from the crack. I'll try to take a picture next time I'm out there. Thanks. Jul 22, 2016

Can you be more specific on the location? Maybe a picture? Jul 21, 2016

Anyone know the grade and name to the off-width crack/chimney? Jun 20, 2016
