RAPTOR CLOSURES: please be aware of seasonal raptor closures. They occur annually in the spring.
Description
This is the sunny wall across the way from the Maverick Buttress. Great winter crag with lots of sandy classics, although not as concentrated as Maverick.
Should be noted that there are 2 walls up here left and right and there is definitely a small but noticeable (esp if you aren’t expecting it) hike between the two walls. A majority of the routes (starting with Triceratops) are on the right half of the area (see photo for reference from the parking area).
Getting There
Take Potash Rd. to the Jug Handle Arch pullout that accesses Long's Canyon and drive a ways. Park at the first of the switchbacks just before reaching Maverick Buttress near two gullys. Hike up the right hand gully, continue up the gulley to access the left half of the area (Seventh Serpent). Exit the gully earlier to gain the flat bench to the right and follow this bench towards Triceratops and the right half of the wall. (Most of the routes are on the right end of the wall.) There is lots of beautiful petrified wood in the area.
