Laura makes one last lap of the wall, near the end of another idyllic day at San Ysdiro.

San Ysidro Canyon has been transformed by this winter's rain - one February storm dropped 11 inches of rain over 3 days. Tons of brush has been scoured from the stream-bed and part of the climbers trail has washed out.

The rare and elusive Banana Slug calls San Ysidro home. Look for these warm and cuddly critters along the climbers trail that connects the Fire Road to the actual crag.

Another one for the Sage album. Looks like she fell off Applied Magnetics. (She was so reeking this one day last August that no one was willing to try and wake her up and get her to move.) I'd say "poor girl" but she's obviously living the life...

Wesley Fienup climbs the start of Face Lift. The crack along the first 20 feet of the route is packed with mud, making it feel slick and insecure. Above the oak tree that now rests against the wall, the rock quality is fine.

All of the mature oak trees that used to shade the base of the wall have been transported out of the canyon.

1) Vanishing Flakes/Rockoco: two 1/2" x 4" wedge-bolts with chains (2004); 2) Applied Magentics: two 14mm Petzl Bat'inox glue-ins and one 12mm Fixe Triplex expansion bolt (2005); 3) Great Race/Peels of Laughter: two 1/2" Rawl-style 5-piece expansion bolt (2007); 4) Fine Line: two 12mm Fixe Glue-ins and one 1/2" Rawl-style five-piece expansion bolt (2004).

Here's the view of the wall that contains Haunted by Water, ROI and Daddy's Girl. The creek no longer runs along the base of these routes. San Ysidro creek now runs 50 feet away, on the other side of the canyon floor.

The first bolt on ROI, located 25 feet off the ground, was flattened as debris was carried down the canyon. The pipe located another 5 feet higher was bent over by debris.

The base of Enigmatic Voyage, Young William and Vanishing Flakes suffered tremendous damage. The patina has been completely removed all the way up to the second clip on Vanishing Flakes.
