More Info
Ive been climbing and exploring in San Diego county since 1974. Mt Woodson has been my home crag since i moved to poway in 1983. I was documenting the routes at Woodson from about 1984-1994 and helped Michael Paul develop his landmark Woodson Guide that appeared in Craig Fry's "Bouldering in Southern California" guide. Had a 2 year stint as San Diego regional correspondent for climbing magazine, filing basecamp reports for the local areas.
Ive climbed a lot at Mission Gorge, Santee and other local areas, as well as Joshua Tree, Tahquitz, Suicide, Black Mountain and Yosemite. Ive climbed most of the major formations in yosemite including half dome and el cap, and done a little mountaineering, but mostly bouldering and short routes.
I have lots of firsthand info on the routes and history of Mt Woodson that I am happy to share with anybody who is interested. Age is slowing me down now, but I still get out there and do what i can. More and more that means exploring and trail building on woodson.
