Description
While cleaning and bolting the route a large black, blue, and silver colored dragonfly landed next to me. Being a dragonfly whisperer, I asked him where I should place the next bolt. We were on the overhang section. I pointed to two separate locations and the dragonfly kept saying higher, higher. I asked him why so high (bolts so far apart). He looked at me and said, “I like to see humans fly!” And then he flew off. And that is why the last two bolts are separated by a little bit more than I normally do.
Either use supplemental gear or scramble up the first 15 feet of Smiley Kylee, then break right to the first bolt on the slightly less than vertical wall. Follow the bolts up several finger ledges. You will move left and right working up the ledges. The first crux is in the middle of the wall. A 6 foot blank section. You will be tempted to work left onto Smiley Kylee. Don’t do it, use the big blocks on the right to stem your way past the crux. The last 20 feet are slightly overhanging. Big holds await you up to the anchor. This route is old school bolted. They get more spaced out as you move up.
