Tunnel 1 closure
For more details visit: jeffco.us/open-space/alerts…
The two areas Jefferson County Open Space intends to close in Clear Creek Canyon, shown on the attached maps, encompass the active eagle nests. If the Clear Creek eagles continue to nest in the active nests, these areas will remain closed from February 1 through July 31. If the eagles choose different nesting sites, the closures will be adjusted accordingly to protect those eagles during their breeding season.
Currently, rock climbing areas that fall inside of the seasonal raptor closures include:
Blonde Formation
Bumbling Stock
Evil Area
Ghost Crag
Highlander
Skinny Legs
Stumbling Block
Tetanus Garden
Fault Caves
Description
A low bulge pull leads to chill climbing over the pegmatite. Then a tightly bolted crux surmounts another bulge. Sort out the last tricky bit over cool rock to the anchor. This shares an anchor with the route to the right, Stray Cat. You can access Top Dawg (10b), from this anchor as well; however, I do not recommend linking them unless you do some serious drag mitigation with runners.
Extending the draws on the low angle pegmatite (B5-7) can help with any rope-drag, and extend or place a long draw on bolt 2 if you want the rope to run as smooth as possible. This was bolted to be super plaisir!
Wear a helmet.
