Location

Overview: this is a bold and varied first ascent weaving through the steep southeast face of Island Peaks South. Zeitgeist—“the spirit of the times”—celebrates the fusion of old-school adventure climbing and the new generation’s drive for bold exploration. Expect everything the Black Canyon has to offer: loose rock, brushy traverses, moments of clean stone, and a proud summit finish.

Approach: from the Slide Draw Trail, descend to the river, cross, and climb the southwest gully to a large chockstone boulder marking the start of the route.
