Description Suggest change

To begin this problem, approach from the left side of the boulder and step onto the rounded rock positioned just below the slab wall. There are no designated start hands—simply establish both feet on the rock and use a left hand on the inside of the arete to get situated. From there, work your feet up to the ledge and move the left hand up the arete using a variety of small hand options. A reachy but solid right-foot placement allows access to the right side of the slab, where you'll find a secure jug to pull through. Top out confidently on the large “glory jug” at the slab’s summit.

To descend, continue topping out onto the easy terrain above and walk toward the back. From there, you can either follow the longer path to the left, or head right of the large tree at the top. The right descent leads to a wide, walkable opening through a grouping of rocks. As you descend, the Concrete Boulder will be on your left, and the trail back to the base of the climb will bend around to your right.

Note: This problem was comfortably done by climbers with 5'10" to 6'0" wingspans. Those with shorter reach may find the span to the far-right foot or the right-hand jug more difficult. Alternative beta may be needed

Caution: Falls from this climb can be awkward and potentially hazardous. Spotters and pads are strongly recommended.

Location Suggest change

Commitment Issues is located on the Lover’s Crack Cluster, which is part of the lower section of the Dixon School Boulders at Crowders Mountain. From the main boulder trail, hike uphill past Zeus Eye and the Classic Overhang Boulder. After passing these landmarks, take a left turn onto a descending side trail. Continue along this trail until you see the Concrete Boulder on your right. Walk past Portland, then go left and downhill.

The Lover’s Crack Cluster will appear on your right, with Commitment Issues starting on the left side of the cluster. Look for a rounded rock at the base of the slab wall—this marks the starting position for the climb.
