Always check the NPS website at nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/… for the most current details and park alerts, and to learn more about the peregrine falcon, and how closures help it survive. This page also shares closures and warnings due to current fires, smoke, etc.
Description
The Plague is a variation to the first pitch of Dark Ages. The start of the route is about 20 feet above the base and is accessed by walking up a broken ramp, towards climber’s left. See photo-topo for details. Start on Dark Ages and move right after the first bolt. Continue straight up along the right side of a black streak, then trend slightly left on the upper part of the pitch (the crux) to a narrow ledge; walk left along the ledge to the pitch 1 belay anchor of Dark Ages (two bolts with chains). Awesome rock quality and super-fun climbing. (5.10a, 7 lead bolts, 100’)
Rappel and top-rope with a single 60m rope. Clip the last lead bolt for a top-rope directional.
