The closure is: "The cliffs at Mount Minsi from Point of Gap parking lot to Arrow Island parking lot, from the west shoulder of Route 611 to the top of the ridge, in the Pennsylvania District, will be closed to rock climbing and hiking through approximately early August to prevent human disturbance to nesting peregrine falcons."
Official designated trails are not affected by this closure, meaning hikers can still use Arrow Island Trail and the Appalachian Trail. Official trails and maps are located on the park website at: nps.gov/dewa/planyourvisit/…
Closure signage will be posted near the parking areas.
Description
Awesome climb up Minsis tallest section of cliff. Start just right of flying to Houston at a crack/corner. Go up grassy ledges to belay under a roof with right facing corner. Move left around corner roof and straight up left til small corner in roof with flake horizontal. Place gear and pop over roof into more grassy ledges to an alcove on top of big boulder and belay. Now head left and up until you can traverse left thru some lichen to the prow. Soar up prow until you hit bolts. Two 35 meter raps make it down. Past an old piton between the two 5.10 cruxes and the alcove had three rusty nuts which one broke when I pulled on it.
