Titan

A 60 foot vertical curtain on the same "Ring" as the third pitch of "Four Rings of Saturn" approx. 80 feet to climbers left.  On the first ascent of "Four Rings Of Saturn" this curtain was just starting to form but not climbable.  On the first ascent of "Titan" (Saturn's largest moon) the goal was to climb "Four Rings" but upon arrival it was found that "Titan" was fully formed and much thicker than "Four Rings" so the objective changed and "Titan" was born. 

 
It can be climbed in a multi pitch fashion from below by ascending the slab of thin ice approx. 30 feet to the left of "Four Rings."  It can also be accessed from above via the descent gully as described in the "Four Rings" report.  BEWARE the descent gully is guarded by a massive hanging dagger that presumably forms and collapses regularly throughout the season.  It hangs directly above the funnel that leads down the slope to the base of the routes in this area.

Sun exposure changes the conditions in this area rapidly.

Approach via the Ausable Club Lake Road and then on to the Alfred W. Weld trail as if you were going to Pyramid and on to Gothics but at an elevation of about 3200-3400 feet (before the final steep ascent of Pyramid) turn right and bushwhack approx. 0.5 miles across a few lower slides of Gothics East Face.  The 4 tiers of this area will become visible from these slides.  (see approach description for "Four Rings of Saturn" for more detail.)

Round trip is approximately 14 miles and can be done with ski touring gear in 8-9 hours.
