Tunnel 1 closure
For more details visit: jeffco.us/open-space/alerts…
The two areas Jefferson County Open Space intends to close in Clear Creek Canyon, shown on the attached maps, encompass the active eagle nests. If the Clear Creek eagles continue to nest in the active nests, these areas will remain closed from February 1 through July 31. If the eagles choose different nesting sites, the closures will be adjusted accordingly to protect those eagles during their breeding season.
Currently, rock climbing areas that fall inside of the seasonal raptor closures include:
Blonde Formation
Bumbling Stock
Evil Area
Ghost Crag
Highlander
Skinny Legs
Stumbling Block
Tetanus Garden
Fault Caves
Description
One of few obvious lines on the boulder, this fun route takes the arete all the way to the apex of the boulder. This is a good warm-up for the harder stuff and a nice preview of the ending of Magnum 40, hence the name.
Sit start on the big jug right of the arete, and make a big move to the arete. Perform a slightly awkward mantle (bonus points if you straddle the ledge and go no hands!), and stand up to arrive at the crux. Do delicate and reachy arete moves to gain the lip of the boulder.
Pedantry: this is technically an eliminate, but it has decent movement. After manteling, one can traverse around left into Four Last Things for an easier finish (Easy-E, V2/3)
