The two areas Jefferson County Open Space intends to close in Clear Creek Canyon, shown on the attached maps, encompass the active eagle nests. If the Clear Creek eagles continue to nest in the active nests, these areas will remain closed from February 1 through July 31. If the eagles choose different nesting sites, the closures will be adjusted accordingly to protect those eagles during their breeding season.
Currently, rock climbing areas that fall inside of the seasonal raptor closures include:
Blonde Formation
Bumbling Stock
Evil Area
Ghost Crag
Highlander
Skinny Legs
Stumbling Block
Tetanus Garden
Fault Caves

Description
Clear Creek has extensive bouldering throughout the entire 15 mile canyon. Mile Marker 268 is a gully filled zone of several water polished boulders and hosts some absolute classics such as Mavericks. Alternatively, Army Of The Dead (above tunnel 6) has more big and committing highball lines than any other area in the canyon. Hopefully you can find what your looking to climb on in this large area of various styles and grades.
Getting There
Bouldering in CCC stretches all the way from the top of the canyon to the very bottom. See specific areas for more detailed descriptions on where certain zones are. The top of CCC is about 10 minutes East of Idaho Springs, and the bottom sits right above Golden.
