Tiny Town Alcove Face

Not in the guidebook, this route is unlikely to attract a lot of attention as it is quite short. Still, its location and lack of time commitment make it an attractive choice if you’re in the neighborhood and have kids in tow.

Start behind the large flake and either use chimney technique or face climb past two bolts. Positive edges abound on the near-vertical face above. Run it out on easy climbing to the chains or protect with stoppers and cams to .5 inches.

This short route is one of the better kid-oriented climbs in Castle or the City for those who want to climb something other than slab but aren’t fond of getting too high.

Well-protected, easy, and fun!

Location

On the Brown Wall in the alcove corridor behind the formation on which Short Sport is found.

Directly left of the Ray of Heaven arete.

Protection

Two bolts protect the bottom and then gear to .5 inches.
