August 14, 1999. This must be soon after the rockfall happened. I climbed the route on July 14, 1999, so it happened sometime in the prior month. I feel lucky to have climbed the original route!

My variation. At the top of the left-facing dihedral, there is a small roof getting up to the dashed line. The dashed line is a ledge to enter the chimney. Finally, I stayed a little bit lower and did not go over the obvious flake (easy face climbing).

Pitch 6, climbing into the band of blocky red rock.
Pitch 5 roof. The standard belay is below this roof, not above it.
Pitch 3 above the traverse left. We climbed this part as part of pitch 4 because of rope drag from the traverse.
