General Policies

What is Mountain Project's philosophy regarding climbing data?
Mountain Project has always worked in the community's best interest to provide the best climbing experience. This involves maintaining the integrity of climbing-related data such as route names and descriptive text sections. After route and area pages become popular and interconnected on the site, other climbers contribute to and interact with the pages you first created. The climbing community, as well as the functionality of the site and app, are dependent on your pages continuing to exist with as much accurate data available as possible.
What happens if users damage or disrupt data?
Damaging data or intentionally disrupting the user experience is not tolerated. Extreme cases of damaging data or disrupting the user experience can result in the disabling of a user's account.
Does Mountain Project support buildering content?
Mountain Project does not promote or condone trespassing on or the destruction of private property. Content related to buildering or urban climbing will not be approved without clear proof or indication that climbing is an allowed activity by the property owner or land manager.
What communication standards apply to the forum?
The forum expects respect for all people, proper use of pronouns, and consideration regarding ethnicity, sex, gender expression, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, religion, political affiliation, nationality, body type, age, size, and ability.
What behaviors are prohibited?
Hate speech, sexually explicit or violent material, bullying, repeated harassment, and flame wars and trolling are not tolerated. Violations may result in a warning, temporary suspension, or permanent ban depending on severity.
