Sad deal… death hits hard. I offer my sincere condolences to the fallen climbers Family and Friends Rest in Peace |

Unbelievably disappointed that he didn't listen to all the feedback. His IG, for context - and yes, he changed his handle to mock all the people suggesting he hire a guide. |

This is really sad event, I wish it would have turned out differently. On almost all of his posts the comment were urging him to be more careful. I personally linked a Will Gadd article about how ice climbing is not sport climbing which he laughed at. Many people straight up said he was going to die and he ignored them completely. Chasing clout on instagram is not worth your life and seems to be a dangerous trend right now. |

Agreed. Cautionary tale - he seemed genuinely curious and super passionate - but the attitude of being force-fed corrections was the wrong path- especially for a community and body of knowledge that is largely available for free. |

Canmore is in Alberta. |

Weird thing is, it sounds like the accident involved slipping in an unroped base-area type place, possibly related to setting up a TR solo, or other such logistical activities. Although he was being too gung-ho about taking risks and leading early, that is not what caused his tragic death if that thread is to be believed |

This is sad. A lot of people do sketchy stuff as beginners, a lot get away with it and learn, or have a minor accident that’s serious enough to be a wake-up call. But some people never get that chance. |

Climbing published a more detailed article yesterday https://www.climbing.com/news/climbing-influencer-dies-fall/. Looks like he took an unroped fall, maybe after cleaning his top rope anchor. Sad event. |

Sarek Skotam wrote: I read through his Instagram and comments after the accident. It seemed like he was farming for engagement party hard, or 'rage baiting' as that article calls it. The additional context the article adds is that he was likely doing so (and possibly intentionally taking known excess risk) out of nothing more than desperation. After already having to leave his country due to war. That's pretty fucking tragic. |
