Really great shots Rich. I remember Junior as a very tricky boulder problem?. I had it figured out in the 80s enough that its my only 5.9 solo in the Gunks. which should not count because the 5.9 move is  very close to the ground. It was tricky enough and a balance move that when we visited in 2001 ish? I couldn't do the move. I remember we would do the move and then reverse it as a boulder problem and one day I just went to the top. I tried to show it to Isa and couldn't  figure it out in the min or two that my add allowed me that day... 

I did Junior in the 70’s when there was a bent over pin for protection.  Hard for a 5.8, MP gives it 5.9+ R now.

First attempts one hand half crimp middle and ring fingers and chisel grip pinky and index fingers on 20mm edge with minus 100 pounds, then 90 then in small decreases to minus 60 pounds. Currently weigh 192 pounds.

A bit awkward, but getting a feel for 1 arm. Scapula pulled in tight and shoulder down with arm slightly bent.

7 second hangs down to -60. 15 seconds at -80 pounds.

Will take some time to get used to this new exercise. Goal is to get to -20 pound reduction and possibly 0 or plus weight? Let’s see?

As of the most recent deluge, .78" on top of .67", April is now the wettest April on record. Almost 4", and there's still some month left! It was 80 a few days ago. Now we have freeze warnings up again. Sunny and blue today, but breezy. 

How much snow you got up there, IdahoBob?

My 1959 VW Bug, adorned with my Grateful Dead Europe 72 artwork.  Non-synchro gearbox, 36 hp engine and no gas gauge. If you started to run out of gas, you kicked over the lever  behind the brake and you had an extra gallon or so.  Drove this all over the West on climbing trips.

Here's a shot from partway up Hanging Canyon.  The view of the Grand, Owen, and Teewinot for Storm Point would be similar, but from quite a bit higher.

None at my house, snow in the yard was gone by late March.  Raked up the pine needles in March, first time ever.  We left McCall start of April, now biking and enjoying the sun in Mallorca.

Here is are some interesting before and after shots of Chimney Rock in Hidden Valley Campground, Joshua Tree NP (or in the case of the first picture the newly designated Joshua Tree National Monument).

The first image was taken circa 1938 and the second around 2019. I tried to get the newer shot aligned as closely as possible to the historic picture.  Some of the Pine and Joshua Trees have grown considerably, whereas a lot of other vegetation is gone.

We are officially on the road.  Decided to hit two spots in vt on our way out of town. Sports climbing yesterday and now waiting for the sun to hit the cliff for some trad..

This is circa 2003 and the first mass produced extra large crash pad. Inspired by a pad made by Moab hardman Eric Decaria, I saw on a trip the the Horn, in the Henry's. Which, btw, maybe one of the best unpublished crags in the country. I brought it to market when I worked for black diamond. 4 x 6' x 6", it was designed to double as a bed for the bed of a pick up. 

This is the first one made and I still use it. I need to patch some holes, and wash it and the OG suspension sucks, but I love it and it's saved my ankles quite a few times.
