Nick, that horse's colors seem most unusual - an almost orange coat with a blonde mane and tail. Is that all natural coloring, or is it a lighting effect? Is it a special breed? It sort of looks like a palomino, but the coat doesn't look right.

Looks like a wig.

Bronzer. The poor thing has been watching too much Fox News and thinks it should look like that   I'm just being an ass.

Edit - could it be a haflinger horse?

Maybe the horse is a celeb traveling in cognito? Bronzer AND a wig?

Great shots, regardless, Nick!

It's a Haflinger.

I had to ask my daughter. She knows a bit about horses

(I had to ask my daughter 🙂)

Fits the forum well too, as they are mountain horses. I wasn't quite sure as they are pretty muscular. (my grandmother and aunt were really into horses. My mother would have to try to keep up with them on her handmedown pony)

Haflinger sounds right. like a bigger version of a fjord.  When I did the equine photography full time I knew all that stuff but its just more information to store in your brain that's not that critical to me so I let a lot of it slip away. This crew had several Haflingers and a Fjord or two.   Work kicked my butt today.. I think they call it rough framing for a reason...

Ken, Is your daughter just Dressage or Evening?

Just dressage. She got up to fourth level on Kalibre (in the pic above) but he passed a few years ago. She now has a five year old Hanoverian that she is training.

I dont shoot Dressage anymore. It creates too many files and too much work. My real job these days is carpentry.  I do shoot eventing but usually just shoot the XC and Stadium.. trying to quit....  All work and no play..

I could tell that was a straight up Dressage photo and high level but didn't know if she also did XC as there is some crossover.

I liked  Genny beer BINTD.. My uncle drank old Mildew and despite it being free and plentiful at their house I never developed a liking for it. Drank plenty of it but bitched about it not being as good as spudwiser...

S has a house guest. D and the other D are both injured. J and S are traveling. The other J is MIA. But I needed a road trip so I picked up a partner off web, a travelling Scot. We had a fun day in the ORG. It was overcast all day - great Gorge conditions. But it actually started raining at 3 PM. Pine Creek looked completely socked in.
Didn’t remember to take climbing photos. Here’s an end of the day photo with partner cropped to respect his privacy.

That movie, at least sections of it, was probably the most realistic portrayal of medieval life ever shown on film ( that whole discussion on how to identify a witch, is a pretty good example of the logic of the period) ---a true classic and definitely one of my all-time favorites.
