Lost Cat - Tuolumne near Pywiack Dome
|
|
I was parked in front of Pywiack Dome and my cat managed to break through the screen of my van and escape this morning. Her name is mouse. She’s incredibly friendly white and brindle female. I’ll do anything to get her back. She’s got an AirTag. If you see her, please call me at 1 (305) 469-8408. A double rack of totems, a ticket to El Chalten, you name it. I just want to see her again. Thank you. |

Oh my. That sucks. I thought AirTag would provide tracking. Does it not? Wish I was in the area to help. Probably best to ask passersby to search on foot after you show them some photos, but you, or you have someone, stay with the van because I'd think that's still the most likely place for the cat to return to after her adventure. Not sure if everyone thinks the same way, but IMO the best way to search is to just walk gingerly without making lots of noise or calling her name. She might be a bit skittish in a new environment, so the last thing you want is to spook her. The priority is to get a sight of her and monitor. If a searcher finds her, the best way to communicate might be with texting. If no reception, hopefully iPhone satellite or inReach is available. Strange voices might send her running too. I hope Mouse returns to you soon. Best of luck! |

Please update the title to include the location so those in that area will be more likely to click on this thread. I shared with my friend who will be there this week. |

I found her! She was — I kid you not — 200ft up a cliff. AirTag beeps for the win. Thank you all for your thoughts and comments. Will delete this post tomorrow. |

One of the rare lost and found happy endings! I’d love to see this thread stay, if only to look at that cute face from time to time. Would love to give her a big hug as I hear she’s incredibly friendly. |

As a servant to a domestic cat myself, I’m so happy to hear Mouse has returned to reign over her human kingdom. Awesome! |

Wife and I took our cat, Randal, on our honeymoon which visited a number of climbing areas in the western U.S. Our departure from City of Rocks was delayed a couple of days because Randal was MIA. I found him on top of a pillar at Upper Breadloves. If you are familiar with the downclimb, this is the pillar you have to jump to with a 40 foot drop if you mess up the jump. Was Randal chasing something or evading something to get there? Whatever it was, he couldn't reverse it. Making that jump holding onto a cat was memorable. Glad you found Mouse. Maybe just add "Found" to thread title instead of deleting. |

Amazing! I recently built up a bus and we've been thinking of taking our cat on trips. She's very outdoor oriented, and the big fear is of course that she'd want to go exploring and bust out. It's good to hear that the airtag can work even in remoter areas. Congrats on the find and yeah, don't delete this thread. |

Jason Pirolowrote: You have a lion to protect your black totem! Wow. |

AC you better not delete this post, it's one of the few parts of MP that make it worth wading through the swamp here. Folks, I'll add that AC lost her the day before his birthday... hell of a way to start a birthday trip... and I guess a hell of a birthday present. So thankful that Mouse is back to being a menace in that ratty old van you drive. |

The border collie is mine, the cat might as well be. I understand the depth of the attachment. I too am happy to hear about the reunion! |

I’m glad you were able to find Mouse! Cats love to climb. One of ours can’t be trusted in the slightest, she’s a menace. |

Can confirm kitties love to climb. We’ve resorted to building them a home wall out of a old box spring |
