Watermelon as the ultimate climb food?
|
Why does nobody ever bring watermelon for climbs? The only fruits I tend to see are generally bananas or boring old apples. |
|
Dried mangos, protein graham crackers, and PBJ sammiches. The first two stay in a sealed box in the truck so I've always got snacks for impromptu after work sessions. |

Too big and heavy to carry. I guess if you climb next to the car all the time it would be great. We have had watermelon parties at the end of the day back in camp and I agree it is just about the perfect food for recovery - especially when soaked with vodka or tequila for a day or so before eating. |

Ice cream. Lots. and yes, its is prevnting me from climbing 5.13. |

Unless someone is actually bringing entire watermelons to the crag — there's something seriously wrong there lol |

Cubed watermelon goes bad quick. Not much of an issue for single-day trips but if I'm out for a week or more and want fruit, a bag of apples or oranges will last the whole time. Dried fruit and trail mix might as well keep forever. |

Watermelon is a perfect food in any context. |

Our go to snack for the first day of a long drive. |

As I once heard here and live by to this day, I will not do any wall with less then a 16lbs seeded watermelon in my pig. |

Well Henrique ... you have discovered a great piece of climbing wisdom ... watermelon is the best thing to bring with you climbing. Sweet, tasty, mostly water, it's the perfect re-hydration food. |

Love having a cooler of watermelon in the car at the end of a summer crag day. Friends always seem willing to help me eat it. |

I’m on board with watermelon for cragging. If I can hide one in my buddy’s pack for Alpine, even better. But for a day at altitude (early in a trip before I’m fully acclimated) I’m usually craving a salty meat spread on crackers….i don’t read the label for obvious reasons, but this shit really satisfies and is my Teton snack tradition |

Back when I was at NASA we took dehydrated watermelon on all our adventures. Stores well. Tastes pretty good. And is easily dispensed. Perhaps it's ready for a comeback? |

I seem to recall Layton Kor may have eaten a lot of watermelon. Didn't slow him down. |
|
I like to climb pumporama naked with a watermelon attached to my harness |
|
I’ve sent more that one watermelon down a creek trying to keep it cool while cragging. Fair warning. Though I like to imagine the surreal experience for some fisherman a mile downstream. |

I always keep tuna pouches in my pack. Super compact, lots of awesome flavors available, last forever, and a great quick protein boost! |
