Anyone climb Fairview Dome in Apple Valley? |

Donald Thompsonwrote: Rock Valley Garden can be crowded as well. There is no simple way that I know of to get from the top of LHW to the next level down ( top of RVG ). It there is, you end up by the Pop Rocks ( cool route BTW ). From there the best thing to do is walk along the top to the raps at the top of Young Lust and Smithereens. If you are walking up to it, the newer/ish RVG - Middle area has pretty good routes. But as mentioned, can be cold. If I was in that area I'd just go to Freeway walk/Tiny Tots. |

Donald Thompsonwrote: The solid advice would be to scrutinize and vet any president's picks before giving them cabinet positions. The whole point is to keep the foxes out of the hen house, not to just let them in and hope for the best. Once it is apparent that the fox is in the house, it's too late, the damage has been done. If the candidates are as great as you purport them to be, they should have no problem standing up to scrutiny and criticism. If you want people to take your "points" seriously, I would suggest less Newsmax buzzword insults and more about why people like RFK Jr. are fit for the job. |

Visiting Fairbanks for a job interview. UAF Outdoor Ed program has intro to ice climbing on campus. Not to mention groomed Nordic trails. And trees. Temps below zero. ETA nice light on ANC to BRW flight over the AK range: |

Li Hu - Fairview Mt has tons of good sport routes (and some trad as well). The route that Chris posted a photo of, Welcome to the Pleasure Dome, is one of the best single-pitch sport routes I've ever done, and if you're climbing harder there are many more. Routes tend to be short (some almost ridiculously so) and you'll do more walking than JT or New Jack, but it's well worth checking out. I've spent many great days there. |

Li Huwrote: https://m.facebook.com/Climbfairview/ Jay, who has done extensive route development at Fairview set up this page. There is a link to his self published guidebook. It’s worth buying for orientation to the maze of trails (most of which Jay has developed and maintained). There are plenty of other routes not in the guidebook. IIRC Jay has a youtube channel where he documents? He’s often out there - I seem to run into him almost any time I go. Real sweetheart. If you see him, you can make a cash donation towards climbing at the Park. There used to be a donation box on the trail but of course once the tweakers figured that out it was broken. I also have a paypal address I have used in the past to make donations. |

Here's some solid advice: wait until Trump 's cabinet actually takea office and actually do something to validly criticise--otherwise no one's going to really take your "points" seriously Don't consider who they are, what they have done, what they plan to do - and then wait? That seems to be an employment process that has been inverted. |

WF WF51wrote: You can do those kind of things , for what it's worth, but remember the confirmation process has none of the features of a garden- variety job interview-- especially not in this case. Going- out -the -gate these nominees are a shoe-in. So what are you going to do? The guy who nominated them has already passed the interview-- it's called a campaign and election. So what's left? The confirmations and all the nonsense leading up to them? If this is so -and barring some sort of Justice Thomas type of smear job on one of the nominees-- all you got is lots of ridiculous postering from a lot of ham-fisted congressional Dems, many of whom don't really have much of a post-election appetite to act like Adam Schift -type weasels in front of the American people-- an American public who have traditionally looked unfavorably upon long drawn out hearings designed to thwart the guy they just overwhelmingly elected President. That dog don't hunt no more . And I might add, the Left today, owing to their numerous recent failures and truly atrocious and stupid behavior, have developed an entire laundry list of political problems and liabilities, not the least of which is a rapidly declining corporate media, a lack of confidence by the Soros-type money lords (who are pulling their dough until and when, if ever, the Dem party gets its act together) and finally a dearth of credible voices in the alternative media . In other words the Dems will have a hard time pulling off any kind of shit-show victimhood propaganda parade, which used to be their stock and trade. The days when the American Left politically (and culturally) got what they wanted most of the time are over with. You're gonna have to work for it now. Most of y'all can start by stopping acting like wolves in sheep's clothing, for starters. |

Donald.. lay off the juice for a bit. you sound like you been huffing too much glue... |

Donald Thompsonwrote: Just wondering if you feel like the report the ethics committee prepared on Matt Gaetz, (which we the people paid for) should be released prior to turning him loose as AG? As for "Justice" Thomas he and his wife's actions while he has been a seated justice have smeared their reputations far worse than the sham hearings. |

so the accused sex offender and white supremacist that trump nominated for sec Defense claims that the way to fix the military is to fire a bunch of generals... The new commander and chief says the veterans are all suckers and losers and his pet boy is going to fire a bunch of generals. sounds so patriotic... such an intelligent move . Get rid of your most experienced leaders, It will be awesome... sounds like something a stable genius who just happens to be Putin's bitch would approve of... |

Donald Thompsonwrote: Trump had 5 nominees not confirmed during his first administration, so no, it is not a shoe in. He also had to put others in acting roles because he couldn't get them passed. Some of the current nominees have done a great job smearing themselves so no need for a smear campaign. And is it even a smear campaign if it's the truth? Adam Schiff is the weasel and Gaetz is worthy of being AG? Democrats have made plenty of mistakes along the way, but at least they weren't actively trying to burn the whole thing down. Don't worry, they will be around at the mid-terms and in four years to pick up the pieces as long as there is still something left to put back together. |

M Mwrote: This is somewhat standard gaslighting, clumsily administered-- in case any of you out there don't know what gaslighting is. in general , most y'all are decent folks but thoroughly.uniformed and misinformed, and dare I say, brainwashed. I've always thought it was because since WW2 generations have been raised increasingly by the mass media and less by their local communities and families. The result has been a generation or two of leftie progressives who have been the scourge of western civilization. But, take heart, their historical window is closing fast. |

I'm pretty convinced at this point that a significant portion of the electorate is strongly influenced by which candidate has entertained them the most during their campaign, and will be entertaining to watch as POTUS. Sure, many/most are thoughtful about their choice, and choose one candidate over the other because they prefer their platforms and positions (or simply can't abide with the alternative), but there is a portion of voters (probably around the 4 million or so who swung this election) who were simply more entertained by Trump. Trump's hyperbole, trash talking, and stunts during his campaign got a lot of eyeballs in all kinds of media- just like a good entertainer knows how to do. The prospect of him spending lots of time seeking revenge over his adversaries will be entertaining. Right now, watching him select a bunch of whackjob cabinet positions that set the hair on fire of the Left is just entertaining to watch. Watching him burn down establishment politics (whatever the result) will be entertaining to watch. I'm not really sure it's ever been much different...it's just that Trump is very, very good at manipulating millions of people just by being entertaining. And for the 4 million or so that really don't think deeply about politics, his entertainment was far more enticing than Harris's campaign. The primary mistake the Left makes over and over is believing that facts will sway people. Politics is completely irrational, and emotion-driven- the campaign that successfully works that angle will win, regardless of how obvious facts might be. |
