Day 9 out of 13.  Did some big links and found easier beta on the boulder project yesterday, but it is going to be hard to link it all.  Easy day today, my friend Steve on “Three Ravens,”. 5.7

Thinking a little more about my route... I would post a pic of Bob here, but hate to broach his privacy.  The chimney part was not too hard.  But when I looked up and saw Bob with one leg attached to the left wall, and the right leg in a dead split on the right wall, arms spread out on each wall... and he said "just do this"... THAT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

How are you not afraid of ripping a groin?  Or a hamstring?

Maybe I'm more cautious.  Maybe I need to stretch a little more beforehand.  It all turned out ok but I was VERY tentative with that wide stemming.

Lori, start stretching a little bit each day, best late in the day after you have exercised.  I am inherently very inflexible, even as a kid, but 10 minutes of stretching a few days a week over a few years has lead to this.

Damn! And I thought I was flexible for my age.

Ward. I was never super flexible but many years of hard work got me to a decent level and then I let it all slip away when I stopped doing martial arts....

Karate pants with the ankles taped because they were so baggy there it was hard to see your feet in them.  every now and then I get in a corner that requires a split and I feel much shame for letting it go so far south....

This one made me look more flexible than I am.

I'm one of the least flexible people that ever climbed.  You would never see me with my feet at my waist level stemmed across 2 walls.  Instead I will use whatever other holds are available, no matter how small to avoid that.  If that fails then it is hands on one side and feet on the other.  There are always alternatives in climbing.  On the other hand, at 5'3" I am a monster in a squeeze chimney.

Funny…as I’ve been reviewing the various projected cabinet positions, I’ve felt exactly the same way…

This is good news ,for what it's worth; it means we're on the right track and heading in the  direction we need to go. Thanks for the validation, although frankly it's just a wee bit of icing on the cake.

Sure man,

1. Sex trafficking enthusiast with less litigation experience than I have for AG.
2. A conspiracy theorist with no intelligence experience for DNI.
3. An anti-vaxxer for HHS director

I mean, what could go wrong, right?

Talking points, disguised as neutral judgement, that will go nowhere except in the deranged woke bubble. All of Biden's cabinet picks were absolute jokes who were, at the least , disloyal cowards --saying  nothing as their boss was being deposed.. They were all DEI hires who were told to shut up and do what they were told. Their net political significance and ultimate worth was helping to get Trump elected. Along with Biden and Harris , one of the more miserable bunch of shallow, dumb, incompetent ,do-nothing cowards ever to inhabit the Executive Branch.

Here's some solid advice: wait until Trump 's cabinet actually takea office and actually do something to validly criticise--otherwise no one's going to really take your  "points" seriously.

I’m tired of fighting for what is obviously true and correct- the looneys have clearly taken over the place. Have at it, Republicans (however this Party is defined these days)- with the WH, Senate and House, and a crew of whacknut cabinet members, you’ll own every success and failure. Good luck with that.

Seriously you people don't give a rat's ass about Trump's cabinet-- it's just the red meat of the moment . The entire Left right now is acting like an hysterical drunk Karen who just got pulled over by the cops.

I heard there’s a guy on the cabinet or whatever you call it who can’t remember washing his hands in the last ten years because he thinks germs aren’t a thing because he can’t see it with his naked eye? It’s like it’s going to be a government made up of crazies.

Someone needs to come up there and give someone a swift kick up the arse.

Also, Tyson or the other dude? Will someone get killed? Also, Tyson’s in great shape though, he’s actually motivating me to workout more.

Last Trump administration was a clown show dumpster fire. Why should this one be any different...   People seem to forget that we were wiping our asses with coffee filters and the cities were burning... Tyson has been eating loads of shrooms for his whole training camp so who knows???  I suspect that they will both fail the drug tests?  Maybe the shrooms will make a difference but Tyson is really old. It will be a miracle if his timing is good enough to win a real fight. All us old people are rooting for him but won't be surprised if he gets picked apart. The real question is if this thing is scripted? If so which way? I suspect a draw if it's fake.

If you watched YouTube enough, like a good cultist does, you would understand Nick.

Tyson for the KO just like 30 years ago!

I’ve been trying SO HARD to look away from our political situation and just deal with it without further complaint. But every day there’s something new that creates alarm. For a short while I have stopped reading TruthSocial because the hateful and rude daily insults from Trump destroy my peace. I was composing a list of all his references to women– – dog, cow, pig, dumb, cunt, ugly, slut, pussy, Pimp handlers, low IQ, disgusting—and that’s just for starters. When you throw in his references to Democrats, including vermin, dangerous , radical, dumb, whack jobs,, deranged, ignorant it still makes me happy I’m not an immigrant.

I mean, this is our president and I take his continual derogatory remarks personally. Never heard a public figure called someone a motherfucker. Never heard a public figure say that an intelligent woman was “bleeding from wherever”.  I struggle with how to keep my granddaughters from being exposed to his hateful language about their bodies and their value. Call me woke.  But also, it seems to be a substitute for intelligent conversation. When you insult someone’s penis size, you don’t have to come up with policy points.

But this little piece showed up on my newsfeed yesterday (I believe it was the Wall Street Journal ) and I had to check it out.

“The election campaign is over. To achieve success in the election, Donald Trump relied on certain forces to which he has corresponding obligations. As a responsible person, he will be obliged to fulfill them.”

— Russian presidential aide Nikolay Patrushev, quoted by TASS.

Many of us wondered why Donald Trump has tried to be  Putin’s BFF .  Trump has made ongoing concessions that no one understood. We’ve been given plenty of raw evidence that Russia is interfering with our elections.  If Trump wants to be a strong man, he’s not.  If he wants to elbow his way to the front of every picture that only makes him look ridiculous.  I am afraid he has bartered away our country and we’re about to learn this firsthand.  Putin wants his pound of flesh.

It bothered me a lot that Trump and Elon Musk made a personal phone call to Zelenskyy this week. Maybe this is the new normal, but why are these two inserting themselves into a very delicate situation before Trump is even in office? But obviously Ukraine is now aware that they are going to have to give away the store after all that fighting and incredible expense.

Here’s what I really want to say: I think most of us on both sides have learned to care deeply about our country and our freedoms. We’re not just throwing stones. Conversation doesn’t have to include insults. These are monumental issues that deserve a dialogue.  I hope that we are wrong about Trump and we have no choice but to give him another chance.

Jan, I sure wish I had been around to watch you climb. That cave route does have several moves with both hands on one wall and both feet on the other. It would hurt my feelings if you just sailed up without breaking a sweat, but I have a feeling you would. I still observe dirty tricks every time I’m in the area and can’t quite fathom it.

Quite arrogant of you to presume what people care about. Do you have a crystal ball?

I care about clean air and water, so I don't want the head of the EPA to burn it all down.

I care that our military is led by someone qualified, not a tv host, anti-vaxxer, mysoginist.

I care that the head of national intelligence is not a Russian puppet.

I care that the head of HHS is not an anti-vaxxer chemtrails crackpot.

The fact that Trump is threatening to do recess appointments tells you all you need to know about the qualifications of some of his choices.

For what it's worth, another goofy climbing video I made. First you'll see, a companion that joined me yesterday. Then, three boulders from the sesh on Tuesday, two boulders from the sesh yesterday and two more boulders from last week (that's my daughter, who visited last week, moving the pads) recorded in speedy stop-action style. I've been doing more bouldering than I have since 2019 and spending more time climbing outside per week than I have since I went to Europe last July with Gaby to climb for almost two months. All this with out leaving home. So far, I mostly go out and climb as much as I can in a session, though I had to work at some of the V3s. Some of this stuff I first did 28 years ago, although many problems I haven't done for as much as 5 years, or so. As far as I can tell, 28 years ago, bouldering hardly existed at all in Argentina, so we were kind of on our own, back then. And I'm still on my own now, although I would be remiss without saying that the youngsters  (mainly local Argentines)  have since left an impressive legacy of hard boulders on La Barrosa. For now, the stoke is staying high. Tomorrow looks like rain. but Monday the weather looks perfect.  For anyone who cares about grades, I call these things (in order) V2, V3, V1, V2, V3, V2 and V3. all in recorded less than a minute No V4s. Yet.

The best arguments to justify incompetence is to pick very specific weaknesses in another to claim equivalency between the two.

But, I’ll take the wait and see attitude, Maybe, the change is what we need? The wars are really horrible. The future looks bleak as they are. Biden’s sanctions are killing Europe and all Asian allies. Japan is in a severe economic slowdown. 153:1 dollar is the highest I’ve ever seen it.

Some Asian countries like India and many smaller ones may see no point paying for protection from the USA and BRiCS may produce the currency of the developing nations including Russia and China. Japan may join if it’s advantageous?

Pharmaceutical stocks dove after RFK was nominated HHS cabinet position, it’s likely that many people in the USA will die from curable diseases and ailments?

Hawks that are specifically anti-China are hoping to get Russia on the side of the USA may be fruitless. The Russian people aren’t dumb enough to change their opinions of the USA overnight. BRiCS is again a much more enticing direction for them to decouple from the erratic behaviour of the United States every 4/8 years.

It’s a disaster that Biden created trying to sanction Russia and China, which was completely ineffective.

So, in the end, “competent” or not the results are the same. USA looks erratic to the rest of the world.
