As the spring season approaches; I’m hoping to get stocked up on some quality reading material to pass the time while out in the land of no cell service. I’m generally drawn to non fiction; climbing adjacent literature… but open to anything you’ve found enjoyable.

If anyone would want to trade books, I’ve got the following up for grabs

The Push- Tommy Caldwells autobio

The greater fool- gobrights biography

Alone on the wall- Honnold

A fine line- graham zimmerman

The rock warriors way

a river runs through it

camp 4

Idk more, I’ll check my bookshelf when i get home….

Into thin air by John Krakauer was a good read. I borrowed mine from the library

I'm by no means a climbing book buff, but have thoroughly enjoyed the few I've read:
* Beyond the Summit - Todd Skinner (with a overtone of leadership development)

* Book of Lies - Burgess Brothers (Never heard of them before reading the book, but found it thoroughly entertaining)

They aren't climbing focused but I really enjoyed Where You'll Find Me and The Last Traverse by Ty Gagne. Catherine Destivelle's book was also quite good.

Thoroughly enjoyed Steve House's book, Beyond the Mountain. Great climbing stories, but just as many friends, family, and life-lesson type stories.

I just listened to John Long’s new book, Icarus Syndrome. It’s a collection of short stories. I thought it was pretty good. He narrated it so I thought that added to the audiobook but I was thinking the entire time that it would have been a bit better to read it.

Really enjoyed The Calling by Barry Blanchard, Conquistadors of the Useless by Lionel Terray, and Savage Arena by Joe Tasker. Finished those recently and highly recommend all 3.

Monkey wrench gang is a fun read

Anything by David Robert’s

Luke Mehal books are relatable (for me) on Colorado plateau trips

Guidebook for my next trip I’m headed to(I usually plan a year at a time so lots of ideas always floating around my dumb head)

I'm halfway though my second reading of Climbers by M. John Harrison. It's a very different kind of climbing book. Halfway though my first reading I wasn't sure that I would finish it, but I finally found the rhythm of it and started enjoying it enough that when I finished it I immediately turned back to the introduction and started reading the whole book a second time.

I second 'Touching the void'.

I don't read many climbing-related books, but a while ago I read Mountain Madness by Robert Birkby and really enjoyed it. About a cool climber named Scott Fischer who did a bunch of bold climbing in Zion, the pacific NW, Africa, and elsewhere, and perished on Everest in the 'into thin air' incident.

Edward Abbey is great.  Sort of in that same vein, and even less climbing-adjacent, but I am a big fan of Wendell Berry's writing.

I will second the suggestions on Mark Twight’s ‘Kiss or Kill’, and Steve House’s ‘Beyond the Mountain’. I also thoroughly enjoyed David Smart’s recent biography of Royal Robbin’s and ‘The Tower’ by Kelly Cordes. Not necessarily climbing, but ‘Alone on the Ice’ and ‘Endurance’ are both riveting reads if you are into explorer type non-fiction. I love threads like this as I always discover a new interesting book!
