Super sketch. It has all the red flags of the account that tried to scam me.

Bummer. If anybody *does* happen to have a megamid+bug liner laying around though, please let me know!

Other then eBay or in person how do you recommend selling safely?

Vetting people's account history and using PayPal's goods and services payment option. There are protections for both the buyer and seller.

Anybody know this guy? I mean, I hate being suspicious of people but the account is pretty new, some post history on marketplace but not a ton of activity....I'm still a bit confused how I could be scammed as a seller, but I guess Paypal with the official business payment method is probably best for preventing any issues? Correct me if I'm wrong anywhere in my thoughts.

I don’t know him but he uses his name as his email which is a good sign. If his PayPal email matches it’s another good sign.

Buyers can scam you by claiming an empty box was delivered and filing a PayPal claim if you sell using goods/services.

You can never be sure but you can usually get a vibe from your email/text exchanges.

As Climb On mentions, he could well be legit, brand new account isn't by itself an auto disqualifier but this is a situation where you might want to take a photo and/or video of yourself loading the usps box with the items agreed upon, as well as a photo of the box once the post office slaps the label on it (or you slap the label, if using the automated machine).

On the flip side, I try to always post a "good seller" note on the sellers thread after the package arrives, so that we can all have access to feedback on a sellers level of repute. I also ask people on occasion to bump my thread when they receive their items (though I've sold $25K worth of gear here with zero problems), in order for buyers to easily see if I'm reputable or not.

If you have good seller history, you could insist on friends and family, though I've never cared about that personally. As long as it's not a big ticket sale, usps insurance will cover up to 50 or 100 (can't recall which), so even if the buyer tries to scam you, you'd just file a usps claim for the "empty box" claim. Not necessarily fair to usps but... Basically we're all taking a risk on stuff here, so ymmv.
