Switch Adjust

Works as advertised, releases easily, even when hanging on it.  Basically functions like the Click Up.  Using a smaller diameter line requires a large diameter carabiner, the carabiner wedges the rope against a curve steel plate with three different shaped ridges. Mammut’s Smart carabiner, the largest I have, worked with Beal’s 5mm BUL.

It seems good but it's twice the price of the adjust in Europe.

Got mine about a week ago, thought I was doing good with the price I paid, everywhere else at the time wanted $10 more.  Just looked and many sites have them for $20 less than what I paid.

If you struggle releasing the Petzl it would.

Got it. Yes, i do struggle with it releasing and with a 6,4” arm span it feels short by a wide margin. Thank u

To release a connect efficiently, pull slightly on the tail to rotate the metal bit and right when it starts to actually pull rope hold the metal piece in that orientation and it will slide back. Takes a bit of practice but is quite easy once you get the feel for it in my humble opinion.
Also, I do agree that the cord length that comes with it is a bit short for my baby giraffe ass w/ a 6'8" wingspan.
Wish it was 6-8" longer, but clearly we're on the outside of the bell curve.

connect adjust and dual connect adjust, I agree… have you tried the evolv adjust? Seems long enough for me and I’m around 6’5” ape

Good advice Christian. Replacing the rope solves the problem too!
But the evolve is rad, but really is more niche since it has 2 ends to use. Aid climbing gold it is for sure.

i was thinking the switch adjust will release one handed? While the connect adjust are two handed operations? Do i have that right?

I’ve always wondered about the evolve, I guess the dual tether and body weight rating made me think to stay with the connect. Btw, does the evolve release one handed?

The tether on the connects is easily replaceable. You could just replace it with a longer one.

The evolve works exactly the same, not really releasable one handed.

if one handedadjustability is important, maybe the switch would be better. Or the CT Tuner if that thing ever came out

Indeed you can!
2 posts down from what you quoted, I mention this exact thing

And Levi, yes it is a 2 handed thing unless you have a stance and gan give slack to the tether, then you can disengage the metal bit with just one hand.

Having not used the Switch Adjust but watching the manufacturer videos and manuals, it can be important to distinguish between "under load" where you have the ability to push off a wall with your feet (ie: hanging belay stations)  vs "under load" where you're hanging in space (ie: free hanging raps or aiding roof cracks).  Though the Switch Adjust claims to be releasable under load, it appears this only applies to the former situation similar to the Petzl adjust. Additionally, it's important to make sure that the manufacturer is not counting only shortening as "adjustable" (easy) and that extending is included (much harder).

The Camp Swing (pictured at the top of the OP's photo in the first post) is the only currently available tether I'm aware of that will allow you to easily extend the length of your tether while in a free hanging loaded situation where you can't support yourself against anything.

Its releasable underload!  tested it out on my pullupbar ... I just picked one up at REI.

This one releases while hanging, brake hand is only that.

It can be made 8” longer by undoing the stopper knot and using some rope cover, or small accessory cord wrapped around the end and sewn down.

I wouldn’t trust that as a stopper knot with my life.

Black Diamond is supposed to have a new adjustable daisy coming out that is releasable under load and seems to have a very different mechanism than all the other ones on the market.

I posted about it HERE although it appears that BD have nuked the page off their website, searching for it does not return anything and the link I had in that MP post is dead...

That said, it seems much bulker and more intended for aiding than use as a personal anchor, as they announced it along with new aid ladders.
