Why are women allowed to climb without a shirt in a gym but men cannot?

I don’t get why my gym won’t let me climb in these

Because you can't fill it out. Something about "loose clothing hazard"!

But,

I see lots of women climbers who can’t fill out a sports bra!

Wouldn’t that be discriminatory?

All I want is equality

Climber Reviewer, my old friend. Did you put a beanie on when you took the shirt off? I hear it’s easier to send if you ears arm warm.

1) because gyms aren’t real climbing

2) because gyms exist primarily for the comfort of female climbers

3) because gyms know men climb better shirtless, and that’s not fair to women

4) because women can’t focus on that plastic thing with shirtless men everywhere

5) because gyms sell shirts

6) because men and women are the same, but men look “funny” in sports bras

7. Because without a shirt on, men sweat all over the top ropes.

Oh boy, the sexism is really coming out in this thread. Why care so much?

Do you really care enough about your V5 indoor proj that you feel that you need every single tiny psychological/physical advantage you can get in order to send? What’s next, bringing your makita fan around on the mats so you can get those tips nice and dry pre attempt on your heinous indoor boulders?

It comes off as super childish when grown-ass adults are going “but she has stuff that I don’t have! That’s not fair!”. Maybe focus on trying harder instead or, if you really cannot stand it, go to a gym where everyone can observe your toned six pack while you flail on plastic :)

I guarantee the rules are the same and that both men and women are allowed to climb in a sports bra like top.

Is this in Portland by chance?

Maybe you should wear a sports bra at the gym. Problem solved!

I have to give you props, that was funny.

Can you go indirect to those?

…in, direct… not “indirect”, which makes no sense.

I agree I think that rule is dumb. I’ve never been to gym that does this. I usually always climb with a shirt it doesn’t bother me but if someone said I had to wear a shirt to do yoga I’m never coming back (which has also never happened to me). That bullshirt is incredibly annoying.

Men are becoming more soft by the day (in rich countries), and women everywhere just keep getting stronger inside and out.

If you think women have all the power in society, you probably need to grow up and move out of your mom's basement.
