“Pants are complex”

Everything is for some of us

These are simple, and are a good choice for guys who think we are equal to women

I purpose going commando with pants out. Makes taking a dump super easy.  Watch out for that chalk bag though...

I thought we were supposed to make climbing lame.

You keep trying, at least via MP.

Regardless why do I care what I look like?

Unfortunately if that were true you would t post things like this asking for strangers opinions, even posting photos of how you look on the forum.

Also at somepoint it will be back in fashion.

Back in fashion?!

Maybe your just smarter than me, but sometimes those zip off pants are hard to zip back on.

I am, and they aren’t

Don't disagree, just depends on the drafty-ness. I think a sleeping bag belay is also acceptable.

You should have included the sleeping bag belay as an option, it would then at least be a funny troll job

But then you got to either pre duct tape or bring duct tape with you!

You are the kind of fella who drives to the crag in your harness aren’t you?

True. If I remember correctly, Sasha DG has been known to climb pantless, so at least he’s following better role models

He's the kind of guy who wears his harness while grocery shopping, just to show everyone he's a climber and how cool he is.

Like I said early on - yet another desperate plea for attention.

I have said 100 times that climbing is lame, if I wanna look cool I put my dog in my pants so we look like a kangaroo family. More seriously, you complain about me being a troll, then disregard stuff I say to make a cheap point which is hurtful. I have never said anything to try to hurt your feelings.

I think this a really important question you are bringing to the table and hopefully, when this is all over, everyone will be better because of it. Pants are complex. Add a little or a lot of sweat to the mix and you've got yourself a serious case of swamp ass. So, have you considered chaps? Particularly camo chaps. Not only do you have the freedom and flexibility of being assless, you also have unlimited access to your chalk bag and ball nuts. Bonus: no one will know you're wearing them because they're camo and their sole purpose is to blend in with the surroundings, like nature.

Great point!

Naw be sustainable, poop into the chalk bag and dispose of it later.

That would be more efficient!

We can steer the conversation to this. While I have never bivied on a wall, I would take no issue with getting belayed from my partners sleeping bag while they tried to stay warm.

I guess I am in the minority. Next time I see a runner warming up for the race I will scream they are looking for attention and are an idiot for wearing warm ups.

Edit: Here is another picture of my patented technique.

You knew this before posting, which is why this post seems like a cry for attention

Apples to Oranges. If you can’t understand that then I‘m not sure what to tell you, but I have a feeling you very much understand the difference between the two. A main part you already addressed in the very first part of this reply. Runners wearing warm ups aren’t in the minority.

I tried in today and I think out is better. The issue with in is that my knee bar pad rotates with the fabric rather than skin.

I don’t understand what temperature is too warm for shirts but too cool for just one pair of pants.

That's me. Trevor and I have very different views on temperature. Also there's no sending to be had with a shirt on!

Let me tell a story about why this is an important function of climbing fashion. Yesterday was a hot day at Smith. My friends and I were trying bolt from the blue, a really long climb in the shade. There is a mandatory kneebar on the first crux so I needed to be wearing shorts for the kneebar pad also I would get too warm climbing. But I would get real cold belaying this super long route in the shade and doing nothing. Perfect situation for pants over shorts.

Kneepads are aid

I disagree. Bruised and bloody thighs are aid because the ego boost caused by kneebarring really hard without a kneepad (and thus beinga Trve Kvlt Hard man) has extraordinary intangible value when on redpoint. The shame of using kneepads is a mental downgrade before you even get on the route far counteracting the advantage of free no hands rests.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
