Welcome! You must be new here!

"Enjoyment" is in the eye of the beholder, many times I would consider climbing not to be "fun" at all but I think many of us just dig in deeper. Why is that?!

No, you define fun. Each of us defines fun. Fun doesn't always have to be fun. Your fun doesn't have to be my fun. What is and isn't fun can change over time. But if there's no fun left, however it is that you define it, then it is time to hang up your spurs. This sounds obvious, but I've seen quite a few people soldier on after all the fun for them was gone.

I have seriously decreased my time on the rock in the last 2 years or so- significant pain in my feet after a hike and a couple of easy pitches, along with some annoying cardiac disease stuff, and general creaky elbows and knees.  I have to decide if it’s worth it to climb today  and hurt tomorrow.
That’s the shit that will make me end up selling the rack ... ok maybe just the sport draws.

One day, trolling won't be fun for Tradibanned anymore. Then he will understand the other question.

When you hit your first plateau, mental block, or loss in friendly competition when your friend sends before you do, climbing reveals that you are just an insecure posturer, so you put your shoes, harness, rope, and rack in the back of your closet next to your roadbike, drumset, dignity, and everything else you've ever given up on your long slog through late stage capitalistic mediocrity.

Traumatized from stuff being dropped on you from above too many times. Today’s forecast 30% chance of rocks and ropes in the morning followed by a 50% chance of walkie talkies in the afternoon. Winds light and variable...

I'm fine with anyone who decides to quit for whatever reason they choose... Just as long as it's not while actively engaged on a multipitch with me.

If I had a nickel for everyone who practically threw themselves off the trail and yanked their face diaper up when I’m walking past.

And they took the brushes away at the gym. Y’know so we’re not all touching the same stick.

Funny, nobody ever did that when walked past...

It’s dangerous

It’s scary

It’s hard

Oh wait that’s why I like it!
