Changes and New Features in the Forum
|
I've made these changes to the forum:
*A note on how this works: Flagging a message sends it to me or other admins for review. The flag itself does not hurt a user's reputation, but if an admin agrees with the flag and deletes the message, the person's reputation gets worse. Jerk posts are really bad for a reputation. Other factors also affect reputation: the total number of messages, the age of the account, other contributions, etc. |

Great updates. Thanks. |

Will we know who chooses to "ignore" whom? |
|
Cool ideas. Great work! |

Is there (or will there be) a way to permanently "unignore" the trolls identified by (2)? In other words, if I want to see what the trolls (or particular trolls) are posting without having to click "Show It" every time? Not joking. |

Awesome changes! Thanks! |

In other words, if I want to see what the trolls (or particular trolls) are posting without having to click "Show It" every time? Not joking. As harmful as they can be, I fully agree with this. Back when Tradiban was still around it I wouldn't have missed one of those posts for the world, and it would have been such a hassle to click every one of his comments just to see his glorious work in action. |

Thanks for the explanation |

Go to your profile page, click the "Edit Profile" button and then the "Account Settings" tab. Ignored Users are in the lower left corner. |

Commented in the other thread, sheesh. I'd just as soon see what everyone posts and make up my own mind. BTW, I couldn't get "everyone" to italicize. Best, Helen |

While you're at it, you should change the name of this feature. If you are going to unilaterally abrogate diversity and inclusivity by enabling individuals to cancel other individuals, you're no longer operating a public space for the open exchange of ideas. It's not a forum anymore, so stop calling it one. |

This is awesome, thanks a lot Nick. |

Users with lots of flagged posts, warnings, and agreement by the mods are minimized. Don’t like that ? then don’t be a dick. |

Warnings before a ban, a soft-ban system (minimized posts) and user-enabled ignore functions all sound like perfectly reasonable forum moderation features. |

BOO ;) |
