Happy Thanksgiving! I was actually starting to get a little concerned about you!

Hosted an early dinner yesterday, heading to the desert today for a few days. Happy and safe holidays to everyone!!

Happy Turkey Day to all. And yeah, Dallas, I was starting to get a little concerned about you and Barb too.

Ooo! Me too! Wait, you said "desert", not "dessert"?

Peach crisp, I'm thinking. Desert sounds good too. Unfortunately, our local desert is getting rather cold. I'll be shopping for those fishnet stockings soon, Tim!

Best to all, Helen

Sorry if I caused concern.  While we truly enjoy climbing and our outdoor adventures it is but a portion of our Great Adventure.  I like to keep on topic on forums. This is our visit grandkids time.  So no climbing, no training. (Unless you count playing football in the back yard).  We may get a little climbing today or tomorrow at North Texas Outdoor Pursuits.  But the folks we will be with are non-climbers so not sure it will happen.

We will be back in Park City early December, at that time we will rejoin Momentum gym in Salt Lake City and do some indoor climbing/training through the winter months.  Think Red Rock in March.

As far as how is Barbara doing?  She's fine.  Just to reassure everyone I will attempt to post a video of us putting up a zip line for the kids in the back yard.  She was the lightest person there so she got to be our test pilot.  I am sure glad the cable clamps held.

So glad to know Dallas and Barb are ok.

I went to the gym today and belly flopped. (Climbed lousy). Some days I guess it’s a win just to show up, suit up and try.

But wanderlust is hitting me bad and I’m itching to roam. The smoke here has been replaced by dark skies and rain and there’s fresh snow up the road. Not being really a winter person I’m thinking maybe it’s best to just go all in...ski (haven’t skied in a decade), sled, embrace my inner winter.

And go climb...

We call such days high-gravity days.  Everyone has 'em.

I seem to be having more of them these days :)

That was my day at the gym today. Happens when I've picked all the low-hanging fruit.

Well, that settles it, then.  Sun spots.  Bad gym day for everyone was caused by sun spots.

Not to have a pity party, or make too big a deal... but I am reminded that climbing is hard.  We ask a lot of ourselves, and sometimes it doesn't all go perfectly.  Why this should be a hard concept is beyond me, but I do find myself thinking... maybe this is it.  Could be as far as I can go with this.

I may hunker down this weekend and watch the newly voted 10 best episodes of The Sopranos and see if I agree.  It's the 20th anniversary.  And it's raining.  What's everyone else doing?

I'm wondering if anyone rides a bike?  I've been watching a few older climbers stay in shape when not climbing with long frequent bike rides.  I wish I loved it more... but it  could be the bike, not me. (?)

Of course we ride bicycles, what fun. We recently purchased pedal assist e-bikes bicycles.  Helps us old people get up the big hills. Also enables us to do 30+ mile rides that formerly would have been beyond our abilities.

Used to, but too many bicyclists getting offed in Boulder -- seriously, it got nerve-wracking. Will spend much of the weekend binge-streaming Grey's Anatomy.

Are you talking about Road biking

Yes. I never had a head for single track, though I did some bicycling on dirt roads and old RR lines. But mostly I just rode up the canyons and hills around Boulder, where shoulders are narrow, accidents are too common, and the cars always win. At some point I just stopped and I haven't gotten back into it. I'm more comfortable hiking. Added bonus: when my legs get tired hiking I can slow down without toppling over sideways.

Narrow shoulders. That's why I stick to the trails. A few years ago I got pushed off the road by a logging truck. 2 weeks of recovery. Sold my road bike.

Lucky it wasn't worse. My bike (still hanging in the garage) is a mountain bike with front shocks only. Not at all hardcore, but okay for rocky dirt roads where the pavement ended.

Oh... good thing it's a long weekend!  I'd go back to the very first season!  Maybe yours is the better choice... gruesome murders and whack-jobs here... gruesome deaths but at least with some romance there!
