I was standing at your front door ready to knock when I checked, ready to give you a big smackdown... But shizzer, now I'm afraid. It was your girlfriend challenging me to the throwdown... I would'a barely made it out alive if my fist made actual contact with your door...

There's a good enormocast episode on this subject called "take your secret crag and shove it". Basically if you are blabbing about a "sick secret locals crag" on the internet but then you only give half-ass or intentionally bad beta then there are basically 2 possibilities: 1) You're over -inflating your ego with grades that are softer than your grandmother's rice pudding and then bringing all the bros to send their "first 5.12 or V4 ". Afterwards they pat you on the back for your sick, futuristic new 30 foot chosspile. This person is afraid of being downgraded since deep down they know that this V4 or 5.12 would be v1 or 10+ in the valley.
2) you hope people on the internet will pat you on the back for finding such an exclusive, mega zone.
Real secret crags will never have controversy surrounding them because you won't ever see a photo, or beta, of a truly secret crag anywhere in the media or on the internet. Im all for secret crags as long as they're actually secrets. Once you spray on the internet without sharing beta with those who want it, that's when you've crossed over into being a true ass. Share or dont share, but don't play around with sharing photos of areas that you're not actually interested in sharing. Real secret areas have hand drawn topos that actually are shared within local communities, not mountain project pages with bad info. These folks sound like they just want to spray but don't want t be called out on bullshit. Nevermind them, their routes probably suck anyway.......

Between this and a couple other of your responses on threads I'm on today, you win the trophy for "kinda missed the point/evolution of the thread, gonna coolguy post anyway because #cantnotdoit" Cheers

Can't not do it!
Secrets are secrets, share all the beta or none at all. Don't cock tease people with photos of a crag you don't plan on sharing, plain and simple.
- Example: I have a "secret crag" of my own outside Moab. I don't put it on mountain project but there are photos on the internet. When people reach out about repeating my routes then I give them the beta. I just ask that it stays off mountain project so it doesn't get crowded. But I'm still sharing, see the difference? I don't post photos of the cliff and then send people to the completely wrong part of the desert as some sort of adolescent prank. If they want to climb I will tell them where it is. Otherwise I should've kept my mouth shut about it.

send me a note with your real name and a photo of yourself "x15x15" and I'll send you a GPS coordinate with some beta for the other lines on the wall as well as this one. If you wanna talk so much shit you should at least have the sack to let people know who's talking all that BS.

From what I hear once the rain washes the chalk off a boulder it also clears any previous FAs and becomes untouched rock again.

I ain't too anonymous though. A little research on ol "x15x15" will reveal plenty. With real pictures too... Is this my 5 minutes of fame? Or is it flamed... But I like your spray. Keep it up. To the moon Alice...

This whole thread was an elaborate collaboration by many strangers to pave the way, set the stage if you will, for Aaron to pontificate and spray about his desert hole.
I'd say it was a success, non?
8/10?
Cheers,

Really though, Moab has gone thru the whole "secret crag" phase with mill creek. I think it's shitty, even being inside the secret circle, I thought it was shitty. Share the whole thing or nothing at all, this is my point. Otherwise you're just an ass hole with a softly graded choss pile.

Its not shitty at all, CO would take over like they have so many Utah crags
