STP doesn't send me the good codes like that anymore. Anyone else had that happen? I got a couple of amazing deals from them by stacking all the discounts I could find, but that hardly seems like enough to get blacklisted...

don't understand why that would happen. use a diff email account and see what happens. I also happen to get most of my 'biners for free by using their TJ MAXX mastercard, usually rack up enough points for a dozen biners every couple/few months. it all adds up...

Unfortunately, the REALLY good discounts no longer exist. They don't send those codes anymore

sign up at STP for the daily email. Create a folder in your gmail/hotmail box where each days email automatically redirects. After a week or two, you'll see the pattern (for example, every tues might be 25% off and .99c shipping, thu might be 20% off and free shipping for $100+, etc). Then just wait for the right day to buy your stuff, link through active junky and plug in the coupon code that you find at the bottom of the email (since you're linking to STP via active junky instead of directly through the STP email).

fwiw, today's code is  VMR07986   for 25% and free shipping on $100+. Pretty hit or miss on STP, i just check climbing crap every so often, scored most of my racking 'biners there for about $3.74 each over a few month period.

Awesome advice, I wish I would have waited longer before pulling the trigger but now I know for next time. Thanks for the tips!

Some people still get them; I don't any longer (after getting them for years). And the codes that I've tried in the last week or so - I've tried 4 of them so far - don't apply to the rope I'm after.  Boo.

I'm also in the boat of folks who no longer get the good discounts e-mailed to me.  I wonder if it is because of a certain dollar amount of redemption linked to that account that it decides to no longer send those e-mails? I wonder if I used an alternative e-mail account if it would send the goods again.

When they got bought by TJ Maxx they sent an email out to everyone saying they would not continue offering the same discounts.  Since then you rarely see anything over 25%.  Definitely nothing in the 40-50% range they used to offer.  So even if you use another email, you will never see the goods like you used to.

Amazon has the Y&Y Basic plastic belay glasses for $16.90 with Prime shipping right now.  That seems pretty good if you just want to give a pair a try and see if you like the concept.

The 45% offs that actually apply to a wide variety of items just don't exist anymore. Best I've seen that works on most items (with multiple email accounts) is free/$1 shipping plus 25% off. Still some great deals to be had though

They changed they way they provide discounts. You won't get anything better with a different email unfortunately...

I've found this made a great stick clip pole (just add spring clamp) and is a bit cheaper than painter's poles I saw:

Backcountry.com is currently knocking an extra 20% off of anything that's already on sale.  No coupon code, you just add it to your cart to see the discount.  Picked up an Evolv Maverick Crash Pad for 125 bucks (on sale for 20% off + extra 20%).  If you're in the market for a bunch of cams, they have Camalot sets that are 10% off the price for individual cams, so with the extra 20 you're looking at a pretty good deal.  Anything over $50 qualifies for free 2-day shipping.

They usually don't run these things for long.

Before you order, double check on steep and cheep first. Was going to order a sleeping bag on BC but S&C had it cheaper.

Apparently it's not applicable to everything on sale either. I spot-checked a few things, and it worked for most, but not the 5.10 guide tennies.

Promo Code should be MHWOCT70. Just checked and it worked on the Ghost whisperer.
