RM, your reply deserves a reasonable response.
You brought up military, which is actually a good example of gender based inequity. Women have been dying in combat for a long time, yet until very recently were never given even reasonable pay or pensions, let alone professional opportunities. I've had the privilege of meeting WWII era lady pilots, flying everything the men flew, and they got pretty badly shafted by the system.
I've also had the joy of seeing lady firefighters, cops, and excavator operators, but they are still far fewer.
All that aside, aren't all of you totally forgetting that females, very generally, are smaller, shorter, have less upper body strength than our male friends, may be much newer to this, and might enjoy coaching specific to that??? Even if you are a male my age, height, and weight, you may totally out climb me based on upper body strength. And good luck finding many females with a few decades experience. Yes, a guy can probably teach me how to be a better climber, but it might not be from his direct experience, like say, childbirth! :-)
FWIW, about all the advice I've been given, is "Lynn Hill is short", "use your feet", and "try harder". Last is usually where the curses start flying. The belayer, the rocks, what ever body part isn't getting with the program... H.
